Your wedding day is one of the most important days of your life, and with all the months and months of planning - beauty tips should not be something that's looked past. Afterall you all want to look your best and to glow from within.
1- Start the skincare routine early.
the earlier you begin the better, a consistent good skincare regime will show in huge amounts on the day. start at least 6 months before your wedding date by investing in regular facials. if you have acne or skin texture these are things that can be worked on over time- don't expect a miracle overnight miracle. things you should be doing is cleansing, exfoliating, moisturising and SPF daily- these are things that your facialist can advise you on.
for my brides I give the the ultimate bride guide of steps of what to do for at home facials or who to book if your budget allows.
2- Hydrate for glowing skin
hydration is key to not just the face, your body and especially your hair. it can really help to increase hydration for a healthy glowy overall look and feel. you should be aiming for at least 8 glasses of water per day and add in watermelon and cucumber to your diet where possible.
3- Book a makeup trial-
I love to do trials earlier before the wedding - normally 6 months before, so I get to assess the brides face, what they want to achieve and where I can advise to help them achieve the look they are wanting.
having a trial early is a great way to be in the know on what you can work on before the big day- trust me the effort will show.
4- Perfect those hairs
this one is for the brows, facial hair and also your hair.
so a trim to the lengths of your hair is a fabulous idea 8 weeks before the wedding so its still fresh but not too much length has been taken off.
getting your brows into a great shape and the most flattering proportion for your features , and also facial hair. a topic most women shy away from talking about. from women who suffer with excessive facial hair due to a medical condition, hormones, or you have shaved in your teens and continue to do so, there are fantastic alternatives to hair removal.
my personal favourite is laser hair removal, i too suffered with excess facial hair which impacted how my makeup would go on, now after laser hair removal my makeup finish is completely different.
5- get regular facials
specialist facials are incredible if done by a professional. whilst there are some things on the market perfect for home use, there are some that just don't work the same as a clinic or professional facialist who can advise you on the best results.
3-6 months before the wedding facials should be increased.
6 Take care of you lips
this one is a huge one i see too often. dry cracked lips are something that is left by ladies and men, especially in winter months where we don't drink enough water and use central heating more. drying agents which need to be replaced with hydration like a gentle lip exfoliator and a deeply nourishing lip balm.
7- Sleep & De- stress
on the run up to your wedding there will be many moments of being tired ,s tressed and overwhelmed. which may increase nearer to the wedding date you get. try to find things you enjoy to relax and unwind. read a book in bed, book a day spa trip or relaxation treatment. stress can increase more skin issues due to lack of sleep and self care.
8- practice self tanning (if needed)
if your thinking of having a tan for your wedding, you absolutely must practice this beforehand. its the perfect time to trial out and see if you like having a tan, see how long it lasts, see if you get dry patches and see how it wears on clothes. id highly recommend this a few months before the wedding.
9- diet
whilst I am absolutely in no profession to comment on anyone's eating habits, there are a few things id recommend on the lead up to the wedding. the main one is obviously hydrate, hydrate, hydrate (not with alcohol either). try easing off the breads as this can cause inflammation. if your wanting glowy healthy skin and hair, try concentrating on antioxidant- rich fruits, vegetables, and foods high in omega-3s like salmon and nuts.
avoid huge amounts of sugar and processed foods as this can lead to breakouts of the skin.
10- pillow talk
silk or satin! treat yourself to a good quality silk or satin pillowcase, i myself use one and its a game changer to my hair and the reduction of spots on my face.
following these bridal beauty tips will help you feel confident and radiant on your special day. by taking care of your skin, hair and overall well being in advance, you'll be sure to see the results walking down the aisle to start married life.
Thanks for reading I hope this has helped for your wedding prep
